What happens to Saga Egmonts profits?
Saga Egmont is part of Egmont which is a foundation with a dual purpose. We create and disseminate stories that are significant to individuals and society, and we support children and young people at risk in pursuing a good life. As an enterprise foundation we have spent part of our profits to help others for more than 100 years.
Every year, we use approximately 100 million Danish Kroner of the surplus from Egmont’s media business for our charitable work.
Purpose
Egmont supports children and young people at risk. We work to ensure that all children and young people are able to complete a youth education and pursue a good life.
Egmont shares its name with a very special man; Our founder Egmont Harald Petersen. He grew up in poverty with a single mother and was in foster care for a part of his childhood. Against all odds, he changed his own life story when he established a printing house and founded Egmont. Early on, he used a part of the company’s profits to help children and families in poverty. And it has been so ever since.
Egmont Harald Petersen never forgot where he came from. His final wish was for a part of Egmont’s profits to continue to go towards philanthropic purposes. Since Egmont became a enterprise foundation in 1920, we have supported thousands of children and families at risk. And we will continue to do so.
