We bring stories to life

Making books available – everywhere

Where we’re headed

Quality, selection, and curation. Those are keywords representing Saga Egmont’s current approach, and the direction we are taking our publishing business in.

Looking to the future, quality underlies every decision we make at Saga Egmont, securing a prime catalogue including all genres and formats. The audiobooks and e-books that has been our focus from the beginning has since the early days been joined by additional formats including podcast, print books, and audiodramas.

Our aim is to meet the demand from every reader, while generating revenue that supports our authors and our foundation – the Egmont Foundation that every year invest our profit in the next generation with initiatives that support children and young people at risk.

We continue to exist for the readers, the authors, and the charitable cause we support, publishing the great classics from the past, the vibrant works of today, and the stories of tomorrow.

It depends on many factors such as the power used by studios, retailers, length of the book, and more. However a Swedish study by bbki.se calculates an average emission of 8g CO2 emission per e-book reading and 34g CO2 emission per audiobook reading. In the same report they calculate an average emission for printed books at 650g CO2 emission. However, it’s important to note that this comparison is difficult, since it doesn’t take into account the climate impact from producing the device used to listen to or read the book (smartphone, tablet). For a full calculation the device footprint should also be considered. Still, current data calculate the digital books as the most green solution on average.

Saga Egmont has a relatively small carbon footprint. It is mainly related to office operations. The office buildings are owned by Egmont, who has invested in a solar park to match our energy consumption. The biggest initiative is that Egmont has committed to SBTi (Science Base Targets initiative). This is currently the most ambitious climate initiative a company can take. We commit to setting targets in line with the ambitions of the Paris Agreement and keep global warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius. Read more here.

Furthermore, in the autumn of 2024 Saga Egmont takes part in planting 15,000 trees, to contribute to all the advantages that brings. If you haven’t already read Egmont’s sustainability report, you can find it here

“Since 2018, we’ve successfully collaborated with Saga Egmont to globalize Jeffrey Archer’s titles. We have always found Saga incredibly easy to work with, and very professional. We have subsequently widened our collaboration to include books written by some of our other clients, and we look forward to continue working with Saga in the future.
